The music of Crave is best described as moody tech-house though its influences run deep through the history of electronic music and the concept of sound synthesis itself. Crave is Mark Thibideau of Toronto, Canada. Mark has been developing his craft and his musical perception since the age of thirteen, which helps explain his advanced ability to create such an exquisite selection of sound moods. Beginning with Kraftwerk, and Depeche Mode, and later catching on to the sounds of labels such as Plus 8, WARP, and Chain Reaction, Mark developed through several different musical projects to become Crave. As Mood 27, Mark and his twin brother Matthew explored the idea of synthesized music without formula. Later, with the group Waxbean Orchard, the brothers developed their ability to write structured songs, transforming their 'Mood 27' by incorporating conventional instruments and a female vocalist. Mark is also currently developing his ambient works under the appropriate guise - 'Sedative'. Mark sees his Crave project as the initial outlet for his entire musical vision, which runs through hard techno, experimental drum n bass, and freeform ambient music - always deep and always within context. Perhaps the best way to understand this vision is to experience Crave's self titled 12” vinyl release on Woodwork Recordings (WOOD1204), where dance floor tracks meet their ambient counterparts, creating a truly original setting for house music. A sound that lies in undiscovered territory yet provides a glimpse of what the future holds for tech-house. Check out Crave's live cassette release entitled "10:07:09", also available on Woodwork Recordings (WOODCS05) or catch Crave’s live show to experience first hand - electronic music in its most complex simplicity.
