Crave serves up a delightful first
offering of classy tech-house grooves. With a rhythmic
vocabulary and sound palette ranging in style from house,
techno, and tribal to ambient and absurd - this release
finds favour with a wide variety of DJs and listeners. a1. microdots reveals Craves unique combination of retro and progressinve sensibilities. A sparse beat riddled with perfectly placed synth chords gives way to a thick bassline that drives the track forward through a subtly changing stream of consciousness mix. Perhaps one of the most unusual yet strikingly appropiate blends of techno and house with an undeniable eighties flavour. a2. microdots gets mildly redecorated in this remix by Sunkissed. A few of the original sounds remain, joined by some recognizable tidbits from the Sunkissed repertoire. Though slightly busier than the original mix, this deep house overhaul retains a similar context and all the sweetness of the original. b1. danny b, in all its tech-tribal madness is sure to be a dance floor maurauder and superior mixing track. From the beginning, the beat stomps its way forward, embellished by rolling toms, analog grunts and immaculate jazzy synth stabs. b2. in pipe words came about as the result of a conversation with a synthesizer. This track certainly pushes the boundaries of the tech-house sound and revives our sense of all things experimental, nicely rounding out Craves solid first EP. |
